Swarovski Watch by Tokujin Yoshioka

Tokujin Yoshioka has designed “Lake of Shimmer” – Avant Time Nº3 for Swarovski. The bracelet of this watch is adorned with small hexagonal stainless steel that reflects the light beautifully. It is expected to be released in September, 2012.

Consisting of a single 12 faceted crystal, the watch was inspired by the facade of the stand Yoshioka designed for Swarovski in 2009 for Baselworld (below).

The mirrored face appears as if it is reflecting the sun off the surface of a lake, emitting a strong brilliance and luminosity to the wearer.

Lazerwood Beats by Dre Skins

You’ve got two options when rocking your Beats by Dre headphones: Look like every other person who happens to have the exact same pair or do what Lil Wayne did, and encrust them with a million dollars worth of diamonds. Frankly, we don’t care for either option. While we do love our Beats, we don’t like to conform to the masses too much, and while we would trick out a pair with some bling, we just used a coupon for a buy one, get one deal at Subway. So what are the options?  Well, Lazerwood, the company who makes the custom iPhone cases, has released their Beats skins (or “mods” as they call them).  For 35 bucks, your headphones will stand out thanks to the real wood adhesives. Choose either Cherry or Walnut and your Beats will look like they reek of rich mahogany.

The Hublot 5 Million Dollar Diamond Watch

The world’s biggest watch event opens in Basel, Switzerland, this week on the back of a bumper year thanks to Asian demand for luxury timepieces. Hublot, a subsidiary of French luxury goods group LVMH, will use the high-profile event to unveil “The $5 million” a watch comprising no less than 1,282 diamonds. “This is the most precious watch ever created by Hublot and its long-standing partner, Atelier Bunter in Geneva,” said Hublot.

The piece is the result of 14 months work, including that of a “master-cutter” from New York who fashioned the largest stones. The watch will be displayed under very tight security, a company spokeswoman said, and only select Baselworld attendees will even be allowed to view it.

CHERUBIM Air Line Bike

Toyko-based custom bike shop CHERUBIM introduces its Air Line model, a concept bicycle imagined and constructed by breaking all traditions and regulations that hinder creativity. Featuring a graceful red coat, the Air Line’s form is designed to avoid any right angles or hard edges that in typical bicycles cause wind resistance. Throughout the history of cycling, aero dynamics has been a central focus of designers, and the “Air Line” pushes the boundaries of physics in hopes of reaching new possibilities in terms of speed, in particular at the Velodrome and Hour Record time trials.

Cartier Tank Folle watch

At the Baselworld 2012, Cartier will be presenting the new Tank Folle hand-wound ladies watch, a reincarnation of the legendary Cartier Crash from the late 1960s. Clearly influenced by Salvador Dali’s “liquid” clocks, the original watch was an homage to one of Cartier of London senior managers who died in a car crash. His wrist watch was deformed by fire to a degree of melting and some other member of staff took the destroyed timekeeper as a source of inspiration.

The 18K carat, white gold case is made from sapphire crystal, is water resistant to thirty meters, and is powered by a manual-wind Cartier caliber MC 8970 movement. The dial, which features Roman numerals, is decorated with 51 white diamonds weighing more than 1.6 carats. This surprising, creative and stylish Tank collection is available in a limited series of 200 timepieces.
